Alright, so where do I start...
I have been a doodler my whole life. I start out with pencils, however as a lefty, my hand would smear the lead across the paper and ruin my beautiful piece of art. And me and colored pencils just do not get along. I have a hard time getting colored pencils to blend how I want. This frustration caused me to take a fine arts hiatus for a few years.
When I was young my mother gave me a paint set. It came with 8 colors, three brushes, a portable else, and a 10x12 inch canvas. I've got to be honest, I didn't touch the paint set for years; but I found that I still couldn't part with it.
So one mid-December night in college, I was wondering what I should get my niece for Christmas without braking my already broke bank. Then I remembered my paint set and I knew instantly what to paint!
The prior year we had all gone to Disney World, the happiest place on earth. This was her first visit and she was like a kid on Christmas the whole time. So, it was easy for me to come to a decision on what to paint... the castle.
I truly enjoyed this process. It brought back so many wonderful things: the trip we took, my childhood, the magic of Disney, and the ability to create things that I love. And after that first Disney painting, I was hooked.
I couldn't stop at just wall canvases, I wanted more for my art. I wanted to be able to wear the things that I love, not just admire them from a wall. So I began painting on anything and everything I could, shoes, bags, totes, wallets... Anything canvas or that will hold acrylic paint well, I want to paint on it.
